First Consultative Workshop on Climate Change and Green Economy in the context of the Rio + 20 Summit

The Ministry of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and UNDP organized the First Consultative Workshop on Climate Change and Green Economy in the context of the Rio + 20 Summit. The workshop aimed at preparation for Serbia's participation at the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to be held in December this year, and the World Summit on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) to be held in June 2012.Different stakeholders from various organizations, Ministries, state institutions and civil society attended the workshop.

Republic of Serbia makes the largest progress in the environmental sector

Serbian citizens consider that the country has made major development in environmental area, which has also been confirmed by the Serbian European Integration Office SEIO research. As a result of a research that has been conducted in the period of time between June 16, 2011 and June 23, 2011, 14 percent of the citizens have stated that environmental sector is making the biggest steps forward. As a reminder, one-third of all the regulations which are required to synchronize with European Union legislation fall under the environmental region.

The Big Cleaning of Serbia – 289,534 Volunteers Removed 150,000 Cubic Meters of Waste

kzn_vss"On June 4th, 289,534 volunteers took part in the campaign "Big Cleaning of Serbia" and removed over 150,000 cubic meters of waste from 5,311  locations all over the country," said the Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning, Mr Oliver Dulić.

 "We are very satisfied with the results of the campaign and we would like to thank all the citizens, i.e. volunteers, who took part in the "Big Cleaning of Serbia". The Ministry and the local self-government units organized this campaign in order to celebrate the World Environment Day. The campaign "Big Cleaning of Serbia" was organized for the second year in a row with the support of numerous business organizations, civil society organizations, schools and media.  Please, allow me to express my sincere gratitude to the main promoter of the campaign, Mr Novak Djoković, as well as to our volunteers," - said the Minister Dulić.

Serbia and Azerbaijan Signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection

sporazum_azerbejdzanSerbian Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning, Oliver Dulić and Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Huseingulu Bagirov signed an agreement on cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection.

The agreement was signed at a meeting between the delegations of Serbia and Azerbaijan. Another 11 agreements related to other important issues (cooperation in case of emergencies, customs procedures and mutual assistance, investments, education, youth affairs and sport, agriculture, tourism, etc.) were also signed at the meeting.
