Vlasina Clean up Underway
The campaign "Let's Clean up Serbia" continues by cleaning up the protected natural wealth Vlasina. The sites belonging to the first level of protection -the islands Stratorija and Dugi Del as well as the site belonging to the second level of protection - Bratanov Del were cleaned up during the first clean-up campaign. This was the first campaign in a series of similar activities which are going to be conducted on the territory of the special natural reserve of Vlasina.
This campaign was organized by the Nature Conservation Movement of Serbia and the Faculty of Sciences from Novi Sad. Fifty pupils participating in the eco-camp Vlasina, twenty employees of the public communal company "Vodovod Surdulica" and rangers who take care of the protected natural wealth Vlasina area joined the campaign.
Nearly six cubic meters of various wastes were collected (glass, plastic, PET packaging, paper, etc.) and disposed of at the city landfill in Surdulica.
"Let's Clean up Serbia" campaign shall be continued by cleaning up other sites, especially the wild landfills in towns, cities and villages as well as those sites visited by a large number of illegal campers.
