The Works on Solving the Problems of Ash and Cinder in Nikola Tesla B Underway

obrenovac_elektranaThe technology which has been used to treat ash in the thermal power station "Nikola Tesla" B in Obrenovac will soon be changed. The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Mr Oliver Dulic visited the thermal power station "Nikola Tesla" B yesterday as the part of the campaign "Let's clean up Serbia" and inspected the works that would solve the problems of ash and cinder.

- 30 million Euros will be invested in this project from the donation given by the European Agency for Reconstruction in order to solve the chronic problem present in the entire region. The ash has been causing huge problems to the citizens that live in the vicinity of Obrenovac - said minister Dulic.

It is planned that one part of the project should be finished by the end of the year and later the problem of ash scattering from the nearby landfills over the neighboring settlements should be solved. TPP Nikola Tesla initiated several projects regarding the reconstruction of electro filters installed in the plant's blocks. This project cost €21 million. Thus, the ash emission could be reduced for more than 80%. Minister Dulic discussed with the management of the power plant Nikola Tesla about finding the solution to other related problems caused by sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

-In compliance with the law on air pollution and the requirements from the European Union it is necessary to implement new technologies into the electric power production in order to reduce the pollution of the living environment that originates from this process - Minister Dulic pointed out.

The following reconstructions of filters should be completed by the end of the year: reconstruction of electro filters in Kolubara power plant in Lazarevac, reconstruction of electro filters in power plant Morava in Svialjnac and the reconstruction of the remaining electro filters in the blocks of power plant Nikola Tesla A.

The programme of the campaign "Lets clean up Serbia" was presented in Obrenovac municipality yesterday.
