The Ministry among the most successful in meeting NPI obligations
According to the latest Report on the implementation of the National Program of Serbian Integration into the European Union (NPI), for the period January-March, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning fulfilled 140 percent of its obligations. Namely, with the 7 regulations planned and adopted prior to the deadline, the Ministry found itself among the most successful according to the above mentioned Report.
Beside the five laws planned for the first quarter of 2009, the Government adopted two more regulations under the competence of the Ministry: the Draft Law on the Ratification of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (planned for June) and the Draft Law on Noise Protection (planned for September).
The Ministry also fulfilled the only obligation remaining from the previous period, because the Government adopted the Draft Law on Nature Protection. The Program had envisaged the adoption of the Draft Law on Nature Protection in the first quarter of 2009, and the Government adopted it on the 5th of February 2009.
