“Old for New” - First Cars Recycled
The fist old car was recycled yesterday in the recycling centre "Zeleznik" as a part of the "old for new" programme. Mr Oliver Dulic, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning and Mr Mladjan Dinkic, Minister of Economy and Regional Development were present at the recycling of 18 year old Yugo. Minister Dulic said that this event marked the beginning of the development of the recycling industry in Serbia.
-Each vehicle will be recycled in compliance with the European standards and by using modern technologies. "Let's clean up Serbia" campaign also implies cleaning up of Serbia from old cars that have been polluting our environment for decades. Serbian Fund for Environmental Protection will help strengthening the eco-industry and thus improve this process significantly- said minister Dulic.
The programme "old for new" is designed for the car owners whose vehicles are registered in Serbia and more than ten years old and. The expiry date of the vehicle's registration should not be earlier than March 1, 2009. Serbian citizens who drive vehicles registered in Montenegro and whose authorization for driving the vehicle was issued by January 1, 2008 can also apply for this programme.
"Old for new" programme implies the following procedure: a buyer first chooses one vehicle from the Fiat Punto model range and signs the precontract with the authorized dealer. Then he/she drives the old vehicle to the recycler where he also submits the signed precontract with the authorized car dealer.
First, the recycler issues the receipt that he accepted the vehicle. Then the buyer carries this receipt to the Ministry of the Interior where he returns vehicle's license plates and his/her traffic license. The Ministry of the Interior issues the certificate that the old car was erased from the register and returns the traffic license to the buyer. The buyer then returns to the authorized dealer, submits the aforementioned receipt (issued in two copies) that he got from the recycler together with the traffic license and signs the contract for buying a new vehicle. The buyer then takes over his new car.
The authorized centers for recycling the scrap vehicles are: recycling centre "Zeleznik" near Belgrade, Recycling centre "Zeleznik" from Novi Sad, "Metalpromet" from Kula, "Energrom" from Bela Crkva, "Inos-sinma" from Sevojno, "Inos-napredak" from Sabac, "MaxiCo" from Aleksinac, "Ekotek" from Belgrade, "Zastava reomat" from Kragujevac and "Brothrs Ilic" from Backa Palanka.
